Camera guy Mark Gomez sent in this picture of a juvenile Pied-billed Grebe from Stony Creek Metropark. What’s left of the neck feathers and the bill give this bird away as the Pied-billed Grebe verses some other small waterfowl.
Funny that I posted about some of the birds that show up bringing in fall every year and then I had a dream last night, and there was a Junco in our back yard ushering in fall!
No birds outside so I step out the door expecting the yellow feral cat only to once again spook a small Cooper’s Hawk out of the pine tree on the edge of our deck.
Another Cooper’s Hawk attack witnessed on November 22 out our back window. The young, but good-sized Cooper’s Hawk swooped in missing in the initial attack and then landed on the nearby brush
Had an interesting bird encounter Saturday at The Big House with a strange Mourning Dove that landed in the end zone and tried to hide in the blue paint for some reason I’ll never know!
